US Election

The US braces for one of the most important elections in its history this week. Both candidates frantically increase their campaigning in battleground states like Florida, to make use of all the support they get. We saw the tide turn last year towards the very end as theories about Hilary Clinton and her connections with terrorism arose, which imposed uncertainty on the minds of some voters gifting Donald Trump a seat at the White House. Theories about Joe Biden getting his money from a Ukrainian Gas Company have also risen, and whether that will be the deciding factor cannot be determined. Polls show Joe Biden comfortably leading his counterpart Trump. The most vital voters this year would be women voters, and both candidates have released campaigns targeted to women. The result of this election will be crucial for America and the world.
French attacks and the Politics behind them
Warning: Disturbing News, 11+

Most of us heard about the brutal attack that took place in Nice, France at the Notre-Dame. Not only were there victims and murders, but an entire political scandal has taken place. Since the attack, French President Emanuel Macron made a speech, increased security and military personnel near schools and churches, and countries such as Libya, Bangladesh and the Gaza strip have called for a boycott on French products.
Due to Mr Macron’s speech which was said to be Islamophobic, Turkey has started a war with words on France. The Turkish President Erdogan even questioned Macron's mental health. Bouncing back, Macron defended France’s secular values and even stated: “The country would never give up its cartoons''. The heated tensions have caused France to call back their ambassador from Turkey. This might be the last straw for Macron; he already has a list of grievances against Turkey such as Turkey's operations against Kurdish militia in Syria, gas exploration in the eastern Mediterranean and reportedly breaking a Libyan arms embargo. Not only politically but even people have started to argue about religion and politics, and how these are used for power. The boycott is based on the fact that the countries are taking the feud in a religious way against Islam as all of the countries that want the boycott are mostly part of the Muslim population. The reason is many Islamic people find France’s statements Islamophobic.

Rishabh Pant has been replaced by Sanju Samson in the t20 squad.
With the t20 world cup delayed, teams have received extra time to prepare their squads. The world cup is likely to be held in mid-2021. The t20 series against Australia in Australia, the place where the world cup will be held, will be an important factor while selecting India's squad because it will show which players can adapt to the conditions out there.

Carpe Diem!
The word “ Carpe Diem “ was first used by the Roman poet Horace. Carpe Diem literally translates to “to seize the day”.
Seize the day! We all live a fast-paced life. We move from one meeting to another, one task to another, one chore to another and in the midst of our everyday chaos, we forget to look outside the window, see nature in all its beauty, and just pause and enjoy those moments. We are forever in a rush to reach our goal, finish our destination, and go to sleep at night but we forget to live in the moment. To truly live each moment to it’s fullest and to its finest.
I am going to be quoting a line from “ Tuesdays with Morrie”, a wonderful and inspiring book on life, it says “ Once you learn how to die, we learn how to live”. Tuesdays with Morrie heavily inspired this post, he once explained where we think we are above nature we are above the trees, above the rivers and seas. But we are not, our life will come to an end eventually all will die one day it’s normal but till we die let’s make every day worth it. Let us live a life of productivity, happiness, peace, and kindness.
I hope this helps you understand this Roman word better, but to truly understand a word we must apply it in our daily lives. Carpe Diem is for difficult times too, especially in this lockdown which never seems to end. Should we seize the day and take this time to grow, learn more, and flourish more. Should we take these tough times head-on and see how we can make it better for us and for everyone around us. We may not have the best things in life, be it homes, gadgets, and lots of money, but should we let that determine our happiness and enjoyable moments.
We can truly make the best use of this time not only to work but relax to catch up with family members and to grow and mature ourselves and to take on each as it comes and make each day worth remembering.
I would like to end by quoting Marcus Aurelius “When you arise in the morning think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love”.

Review: From the very first chapter of this book, I was lost in their world. There was so much happening all at once and yet, it was so clear. Drug dealers, serial killers, threatening emails, the underworld- and so much simply consumed me almost instantly. The book has two protagonists: Sara and her brother and moves around their two polar, and yet frustratingly connected lives that involve more bad, more confusion than I can explain. I would definitely recommend reading this book however it is important to note that the book also runs on women trafficking, a theme not preferred for those under a certain age to read.
